Just as the calendar was changing from July to August, the Back-to-School signs came out. I must admit that I experienced a small internal giggle.

While shopping at a local office supplies store, I noticed a bin of 4-function calculators. They were selling for $1.99. I thought of the RAPIDMAN 800.

The above photo is from the back cover of the 1974 Eaton’s Fall/Winter catalogue. It was selling for the “fantastic price” of $99.95 (or $7.00 monthly). At the time, the minimum wage in this province was $1.90 per hour.

In all fairness, I should point out that the battery WAS included.
