The Biggest Bullies in School – Part 2

The Biggest Bullies in School – Part 2

……… Now let’s fast-forward to the present day.

One of the worst things we can do as teachers is to humiliate or embarrass students in front of their peers. But some teachers are masters of these strategies. To assert control in the classroom some will use intimidation. If you ever hear a teacher say, “I never have discipline problems in my classroom”, I can almost guarantee that they use these measures. By definition, that’s a bully.

Think about it, if a teacher or principal speaks to a student in such a way that they would never do if a parent or superintendent were listening in then what does that make them?

There has been much talk in recent years about how schools should best deal with those who bully. I think as teachers we need to first get our own act in order.

Teachers who bully are also role models.

-Sorry.
Did it go back to the way it was before?
-No
Do you understand?
